Ork Objective Markers

But for my Epic Bad Moonz, I thought I'd model a complete set. Left to right: Orks command bunker (the "Blitz"), exploderised Stompa head, cliched crashed Fighta-Bomba, and the 40K-scale Warlord (used to remember the Supreme Commander re-roll and also to give the Gargant an extra Macro-weapon attack).
Oh so pretty. And painting the classic Warboss figure was a joy. But honestly, these are rubbish counters. Why? Because they're painted and based exactly like the army. So many times my Warbands have found themselves halfway across the board lugging with them the crashed plane or their own command bunker. See if you can spot the objective below.

So, for my Dark Angels I went for the far simpler objective markers from the 40K transulcent green range. They stand out lovely and never get mistaken for a stand of Marines.

What have I learnt? Erm, form follows function I suppose.

I bet if you stuck those objective markers on two or three more 2p pieces and then painted the rim with dags they'd be less likely to end up traveling with your mobs.
Just a suggestion, it seems a shame to waste three awesome objective counters if a simple change could make them more useful.
That's a cool idea. Maybe even combining it with the transparent green bases so they're unmistakable from the regular gaming pieces.
looking good!
the combination of transluscent and solid bases should be looking great.
i always planned making bases with some kind of an aura... so you get nice terrain-bases aswell as the signal-effect of a colourful blur. -like the ones you benefit from in virtual games like dawn of war or nhl'97 (where the idea descends) all the time.
the glowing effect below the marker not only helps the gamers eye spotting it, but could also be seen as some kind of guiding-marker from the intel ... heads-up or laser /holographic style.
please go for it and post pictures =)
