Kings of War BUT THEY’RE IN SPACE … I mean Warpath was officially launched in Nottingham this at the Mantic Games’ release party. Golem went along in force to paint and mingle.

Both the morning and afternoon Golem Painting Studio Marauder Painting Seminars were a sell-out success, with ticket-holders being walked through how to paint their Marauders in a scheme approximating the Studio miniatures. Here’s Tommie demonstrating his high-end techniques on the Orc Warlord.

Also there was Dwarf King’s Hold Designer Jake Thornton was along leaking details about Dwarf King’s Hold 3. (Hold three what?) Jake was a pleasure to chat to and was chatted merrily about his game design career that stretches back to 1987.

Graphic Designer Tears of Envy was along to showcase her new Dwarf King’s Hold 3 tiles. (Ahhh, they’re holding three tiles…) Ms. o’Envy could be best described as a mix between Lady Gaga and the Fifth Doctor.

I got to play two games of Warpath (both as Marauders and Forge Fathers). I lost both. It was weird seeing table after table of Forge Fathers and Marauders, the maximum I’d seen in one place was ten when the studio Grizzlers were being painted. This really is a game of squad actions that plays really fast.

Bob Naismith was also around who gave some great insights into the Forge Father design process, and his vision for the range. I think I’m going to get his and convert it into a Khaotic Forge Father hero.

Ronnie Renton got a hold of me, but not (as might be expected) to beat me to death with Orcy’s hammer in a dark Hockley back alley, but buy me a pint. What a lovely chap.

Finally, I brought along my first test Forge Father schemes. I came back with ideas stolen wholesale from the display armies.
