Thank you so much for these marines ! And thanks for all your work.
I have a lot of them, with rounded or flat articulations.
And i have a metal sergent in 2 metal parts ( can you confirm yours is also in 2 parts) the one you say it came only in blisters.
I possess 4 of these same metal legs of this sergent , so i think there was another metal torso that go with these metal legs but i found nothing in the catalogues.
Moreover i have the confirmation by you , great master, that these rounded articulations were for the compatibility with the rtb01 arms and weapons. I ve always thunk that but i was not sure. A lot of my 1990 mk6 and mk7 marines were converted into fallen dark angels with these rtb01 parts and space crusade parts.
But i have sadly 1 sprue of these rare 1990 arms on sprue .
Cheers from France!

I don't have any on sprue to show off. And I'm a bit in the dark about them. It seems that GW initially experimented with balls-and-socket style torso-arm connections, then moved away from it in favour of flat-on-flat connections, like with the Ork and Eldar arm sprues. Shame really, as the flexibility of the earlier design gave us more flexibility with the poses, and the ability for models to hold a weapon two-handed properly.

I had never heard of transition marines until you wrote about ehm and I just won some marines off ebay that have the nubbins at the arm connections. They also came with some mk7 plastic arms I've never seen before that have recesses to fit on the nubbins. Can you shed any more light on these transition plastic arms?

It was surprisingly difficult in fact. I cut down the original arm's shoulder pad so I could put a mk7 one on top. And then that required a bit of component trimming so that pad sat well on the padding on the missile launcher. Then I sculpted a collar onto the wrist with putty. I decided not to go full RTB01 and have the left arm across the chest with its giant mitten hand though.

Hey Curis, only spotted these a little later after you blogged. I wonder if you could give a bit of detail about considerations when putting the RTB01 ML on the Mk7 pad - I see you used the cocked hand, was it difficult?

Hey.... you're not even an old grognard! You have no business being this good. The blends in the blue are over the top. Not sure I could muster the patience to paint 5 old marines that well, all at the same time. Amazing!

Hahah! You're not the first person to say that. I did consider Goblin Green bases, but when the army's based on 32mm and 40mm instead of 25mm throughout, it has a very weird look. (Though, of course, the counter-argument is use 25mm bases...)
